CCOHS Scholarship Winners

April 30, 2019 – Hamilton, ON – The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) announced the winners of their 2019 Dick Martin Scholarship Award.
Nancy Suranyi (Alberta) and Evan Hrycenko (Saskatchewan) will each be awarded $3,000. In addition, their respective academic institutions, the University of Alberta and the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), will each receive $500.
Scholarship winners are selected by a panel of technical specialists based on criteria that include submitting an essay on injury prevention or research on a particular hazard and risk.
The scholarships are intended to support interest in and encourage the pursuit of, careers in the field of occupational health and safety.

The Dick Martin Scholarship is awarded to post-secondary students enrolled either in a full-time or part-time program leading to an occupational health and safety certificate, diploma, or degree from an accredited Canadian college or university.
CCOHS awards a $3,000 scholarship to each a college and university level winner.
Scholarships are awarded annually; the deadline for application is January 31st.
CCOHS’ Council of Governors established the Dick Martin Scholarship Award fund in 2002 in the memory of Dick Martin, a past Governor on the CCOHS Council and a pioneer of workplace health and safety in Canada.
